This flying Sandhill Crane painting is inspired by Sandhill Cranes gathering at the Platte River, in Kearney, Nebraska, during their spring migration. The moment when the night sky turns dark blue, and the first cranes fly in to gather on their staging ground before they all take off to roost on the river.
This is a mixed media painting created with acrylic, pastel and embroidery thread. it is 18" in diameter. It comes in a quilting hoop, unframed. Colors vary from screen to screen, the dominant colors in this painting are yellow ochre, deep blue, and shades of purple.
