This is a pastel of an American Red Squirrel indulging in an acorn, or some kind of nut. This pastel painting was inspired by one of the many red squirrels I encountered in the Adirondacks when I spent a summer literally living in their backyard.
This pastel is 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide. It is soft pastel on soft board. Colors vary from screen to screen but the dominant colors in this painting are the deep gray blue background, orange/reddish colors of the squirrel, and the bright grassy moss green. Painting ships flat.
