Art & Science at Manheim Gallery - March/April 2016

The annual Theme exhibition for the Manhiem Gallery is here! This year's theme was "Art & Science," which is of course right up my alley. I have never participated in a juried exhibit at the Manheim gallery, but I thought this was one I couldn't pass up!

So I submitted three of my paintings - two new Volcano works, and a wildfire drawing/painting that has not been exhibited anywhere else, called Crackling. All three were accepted, and 'Awakening the Dragon' won 3rd place!

'Awakening the Dragon' and 'Earth's Lung breathing' fit perfectly into the Art & Science theme not only because of their subject matter (volcanology), but also because of their 3D quality. These paintings pop or as I like to imagine, erupt, when viewed through 3D glasses. The 3D glasses allow the eye to see the warm colors come forward, and the cool colors recede, giving a whole new experience for the viewer to see the painting and experience the volcanoes.

The 'Art & Science' exhibit is on display from March 19th through April 9th in Cottonwood, Arizona. So if you are in the area, be sure to stop in and see the paintings in 3D! The exhibit also includes 17 different local artists, all creating unique interpretations of how Art & Science interact. Definitely check it out if you can.
