Chickadee Study (Chestnut backed Chickadee) study, 5 inches tall by 7 inches wide, pastel on wood panel.

Chestnut backed Chickadees are found on the northwest coast of the United States. These little birds make their homes deep in the forest and can be seen all year round - or at least heard chirping away to each other. I encountered this little chickadee on San Juan Island, and am still amazed by the chestnut color.

This original pastel painting ships flat. Colors vary from screen to screen but the dominant colors are grays, green gray, chestnut, and dark grays.
