White Tailed deer
Pastel drawing of a white tailed deer fawn. Encountered in the Adirondack forest, summer 2018.
One early afternoon I startled this little fawn and his/her mother. The mother looked up and unfazed, went back to the tasty grass. But this little fawn held my gaze, perhaps sharing my curiosity. Inching closer to find out what I was all about before darting off to eat some grass with his/her mother.
These kinds of moments are what inspire portraits like this.
Pastel on toned gray paper. 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide. Available unframed.
Colors vary from screen to screen, this drawing is filled with rich reds, gray purples and orange-browns.
