Where the west was, 2014. Acrylic on canvas. 30x40"

This large southwest landscape painting is called "Where the west was."  The inspiration for this painting came while driving back and forth from Phoenix to Flagstaff, up through desert brush covered mountains that have a haze of green and blue to them.  The green mountains, golds, oranges, cad. yellow and rustic red create a sense of fall in the old west---with a contemporary feel.  Abstract marks blend into traditional mountain forms to give a subtle feel of the harsh dry landscape. Although heavily inspired by the vast beauty of the Arizona landscape, this painting is not intended to be any specific place, and echoes the southwest as a whole.

This is an original acrylic painting. It comes with hanging wire, and is ready to hang. The size is 30x40" with a 2" depth.
It is large enough to hang over a couch, or as I have it, over a fire place.
